चेन्नई: पंजाब के खिलाफ भले ही अपने घर पर चेन्नई सुपरकिंग्स हार गई, लेकिन दिल अपने खेल से एकबार फिर रविंद्र जडेजा जीत गए। पिछले सीजन सीएसके की कप्तानी कर चुके जड्डू इस बार बतौर खिलाड़ी ही अपनी सेवाएं दे रहे हैं। शानदार ऑलराउंडर जडेजा गेंद से कितने खतरनाक हैं, ये बात किसी से छिपी नहीं। वह कई बार ऐसे कारनामे कर जाते हैं, जो किसी सामान्य इंसान के बस की बात नहीं। शायद तभी जो धोनी ने उन्हें 'सर जडेजा' की उपाधि दी थी। अब जड्डू ने एक गेंद पर दो-दो विकेट झटके हैं। अंपायर भी रिएक्ट करने से खुद को रोक नहीं पाए।

एक तीर से दो शिकार

पहले बैटिंग करते हुए चेन्नई ने 200 रन का विशाल स्कोर खड़ा किया। लक्ष्य का पीछा करते हुए धवन और प्रभसिमरन ने 26 गेंद में 50 रन की साझेदारी कर पंजाब को तेज शुरुआत दिलाई। देशपांडे ने पांचवें ओवर में चौका खाने के बाद धवन को कैच आउट कराया। पावरप्ले में टीम का स्कोर एक विकेट पर 62 रन था। प्रभसिमरन ने आठवें ओवर में मोईन अली के खिलाफ अपना दूसरा छक्का लगाया, लेकिन अगले ओवर में रविंद्र जडेजा की फिरकी में फंस गए और महेंद्र सिंह धोनी ने स्टंप करने में कोई गलती नहीं की। अथर्व तायडे (17 गेंद में 13 रन) 11वें ओवर में गेंद जडेजा के हाथ में ही मार बैठे। इसी गेंद पर लियाम लिविंगस्टोन भी आउट हो गए।

पहले कैच फिर रन आउट

दरअसल, अपने ही फॉलो थ्रू में अथर्व तायडे का आसान सा कैच लेने के बाद जडेजा के दिमाग में शरारत सूझी। वह तायडे को केवल वाइड गेंदबाजी कर रहे थे, आखिर में यह वार निशाने पर लगा। 17 गेंद में 13 रन बनाकर वह एक रिटर्न कैच दे बैठे। कैच लेने के बाद जडेजा ने देखा कि नॉन स्ट्राइक एंड पर मौजूद लियाम लिविंगस्टोन क्रीज से बाहर हैं, ऐसे में जडेजा ने मजाक-मजाक में उन्हें भी रन आउट की कोशिश की। अंपायर भी हंसने से नहीं रोक पाए। आउट होने से पहले लियाम लिविंगस्टोन ने 24 गेंद में 40 रन बनाए। 16वें ओवर में उन्होंने तीन छक्का मारकर मैच पंजाब की ओर मोड़ दिया था।

बेंगलुरु. अफ्रीकी देश सूडान में गृहयुद्ध संकट में फंसे भारतीयों की स्वदेश वापसी की मुहिम ऑपरेशन कावेरी का सिलसिला लगातार जारी है. सूडान से 229 यात्रियों के साथ दूसरी उड़ान बेंगलुरु के केम्पेगौड़ा अंतर्राष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डे पर पहुंची. इससे एक दिन पहले यानी शनिवार को सूडान से 365 लोग दिल्ली पहुंचे थे. बेंगलुरु पहुंचे लोगों ने सूडान के हालातों को बयां करते हुए वहां होने वाली परेशानियों का जिक्र किया है. साथ ही देश वापसी पर भारत सरकार को शुक्रिया भी कहा.

ऑपरेशन कावेरी’ के तहत भारत शरणार्थियों को सऊदी अरब के जेद्दा शहर ले जा रहा है, जहां से उन्हें स्वदेश वापस लाया जा रहा है. भारतीयों को ग्लोबमास्टर या भारतीय वायुसेना के विमान से घर वापस लाया जा रहा है. सूडान से भारत के बेंगलुरु पहुंचे नंदिश राजू कहते हैं, ‘सरकार ने हमारे लिए बहुत कुछ किया है. हम बहुत मुश्किल स्थिति में थे. वहां हमें टॉयलेट का पानी पीना पड़ रहा था. आजू बाजू में बम फट रहे थे. भारतीय दूतावास हमें एक सुरक्षित स्थान पर ले गया और हम सभी को भोजन और पानी की व्यवस्था की गई.’

28 अप्रैल को 754 लोग दो समूहों में भारत पहुंचे थे

विदेश मंत्री एस जयशंकर ने ट्वीट किया कि ऑपरेशन कावेरी के तहत एक और उड़ान से 229 यात्रियों को बेंगलुरु लाया गया. निकासी अभियान के तहत शुक्रवार को 754 लोग दो समूहों में भारत पहुंचे थे. आधिकारिक आंकड़ों की मानें तो सूडान से अब तक 1,954 लोगों को स्वदेश लाया जा चुका है.

ऑपरेशन कावेरी ऐसे कर रहा काम

ऑपरेशन कावेरी के तहत भारत अपने नागरिकों को खार्तूम और अन्य अशांत क्षेत्रों के संघर्ष क्षेत्रों से पोर्ट सूडान तक ले जा रहा है, जहां से उन्हें भारतीय वायु सेना के भारी-भरकम परिवहन विमान और भारतीय नौसेना के जहाजों में सऊदी अरब के शहर जेद्दा ले जाया जा रहा है. इसके बाद जेद्दा से भारतीयों को ग्लोबमास्टर या भारतीय वायुसेना के विमान से घर वापस लाया जा रहा है.

Despite a great knock by Devon Conway, Mahendra Singh Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings lost their match against Punjab Kings by 4 wickets at the Indian Premier League in Chennai on 30 April.

Batting first, CSK set a target of 201 runs to chase for Punjab Kings, which the latter completed and defeated the four-time IPL champions by 4 wickets.

CSK innings:

After winning the toss, CSK skipper MSD decided to bat first. Both the openers -- Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway -- gave CSK a good opening. In the 10th over, Gaikwad (37) was sent back to the pavilion by PBKS' Sikandar Raza.

Following this, Shivam Dube (28) arrived at the pitch and tried to set a good partnership with Conway (92*). But, he lost his wicket to Arshdeep Singh in the 14th over.

After this, CSK lost two quick wickets of Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja. With Dhoni's two sixes in the last over set the mood of the match and CSK scored 200 runs in 20 overs after losing 4 wickets.

For PBKS, Arshdeep Singh, Sam Curran, Rahul Chahar and Sikandar Raza picked one wicket each.

PBKS innings:

Chasing a target of 201 runs against Dhoni's CSK squad is not an easy job. But PBKS openers were firm that they can do it. Prabhsimran Singh (42) and skipper Shikhar Dhawan (28) started the chase by building a good partnership.

But soon Dhawan has to go back as Tushar Deshpande took his wicket in the 5th over. Following this, Prabhsimran Singh was dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja in the the 9th over. Jadeja even send Atharva Taide (13) in the 11th over.

However, Liam Livingstone (40) and Sam Curran (29) stood on the pitch and kept scoring. They were soon departed Tushar Deshpande and Matheesha Pathirana in the 16th and 17th over. Deshpande even took the wicket of Jitesh Sharma (21) in the 19th over.

After this, M Shahrukh Khan and Sikandar Raza made the necessary runs needed to win and PBKS defeated the CSK by 4 wickets.

For CSK, Tushar Deshpande took 3 wickets, Ravindra Jadeja took 2 and Matheesha Pathirana clinched one.

After this match, CSK is at the 4th spot in the TATA IPL 2023 rankings with 10 points, followed by PBKS, which also has 10 points. The difference is the net run rate, where CSK is leading.

तीन मैचों के बाद लौटकर कप्तानी कर रहे शिखर धवन ने टॉस जीतकर गेंदबाजी का फैसला किया जो गलत साबित हुआ। राहुल चाहर को छोड़कर उनके सभी छह गेंदबाजों ने दस रन प्रति ओवर से अधिक की औसत से रन दिए। फॉर्म में चल रहे अर्शदीप सिंह ने चार ओवर में 54 रन दे डाले। कागिसो रबाडा ने चार ओवर में 52 रन दिए हालांकि उन्हें दो विकेट मिले।

ISRO's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle on Saturday successfully placed two Singapore satellites into the intended orbit, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said.

The satellites are part of the order secured by NewSpace India Ltd, the commercial arm of ISRO.

At the end of a 22.5 hour countdown, the 44.4 metre tall rocket lifted off majestically from the first launch pad at the pre-fixed 2.19 pm at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre here, located about 135 km from Chennai.

ISRO Chief S Somanath said PSLV placed both satellites into the intended orbit.

"The PSLV in its 57th mission has once again demonstrated its high reliablity and its suitability for commercial missions of such class," a beaming Somanath said from the Mission Control Center.

"In this mission, we had a core alone configuration of the PSLV which has many specialities and improvements that we made to bring down the cost of the rocket as well as its integration time. And this is the goal--to have increased production and launches of PSLV in the times to come...," Somanath, also Secretary, Department of Space, added

Mission Director S R Biju said the "totally dedicated commercial mission" was carried out with "utmost precision."

The primary satellite TeLEOS-2 is a synthetic aperture radar satellite developed under partnership between Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) representing the Government of Singapore and ST Engineering.

It would be used to support the satellite image requirements of various agencies within the Government of Singapore. TeLEOS-2 carries a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) payload. It would be used to provide all-weather day and night coverage and is capable of imaging at one metre full polarimetric resolution for Singapore.

The co-passenger satellite is Lumelite-4, co-developed by the Institute for Infocomm Research and Satellite TEchnology and Research Centre of the National University of Singapore.

It is an advanced 12U satellite developed for the technological demonstration of the High-Performance Space-borne VHF data Exchange System (VDES).

The objective of the satellite is to augment Singapore's e-navigation maritime safety and benefit the global shipping community, ISRO said.

PSLV C55 mission has been adopted with the 'integrate, transfer and launch' concept using the PSLV integration facility at Sriharikota. It is also the 16th mission for ISRO using the PSLV Core Alone configuration.

Saturday's mission follows the successful deployment of the TeLEOS-1 satellite in a PSLV-C29 rocket along with five other satellites of Singapore in December 2015.

Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has said he is in the "last phase of his career", reinforcing the widespread belief that the talisman is making his final appearance in the Indian Premier League.

Dhoni's side gave the home fans at the MA Chidambaram Stadium plenty to rejoice on Friday night by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets, with New Zealand cricketer Devon Conway scoring his third half-century of this IPL season and Ravindra Jadeja claiming three crucial wickets.

Chasing 135, CSK scored the winning runs with eight balls to spare with Conway scoring an unbeaten 57-ball 77 and sharing an 87-run partnership with Ruturaj Gaikwad (35) for the opening wicket.

Overcome by the huge roar and support of the crowd when he came out of the dugout after his team won the match, Dhoni said, "All said and done, it's the last phase of my career, however long I play.

"After two years, the fans have had the opportunity to come here and watch, feels good to be here. Crowd has given us a lot of love and affection," said Dhoni after the match.

CSK returned to their base after a long gap that was brought upon all teams by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dhoni was all praise for young Sri Lankan pace bowler Matheesha Pathirana, who bowled four superb overs and grabbed two wickets, even though he was a tad expensive, conceding 42 runs.

"Not getting enough chances to bat, but no complaints. I was hesitant to bat second because I had that feeling there won't be a lot of dew. When there are chances of dew, you have to bat second," Dhoni said.

"Spinners once they came in, bowled a very good length. Fast bowlers once they came back, especially Pathirana, bowled superbly."

Conway said CSK were trying to perfect a winning template after yet another dominating display.

Conway, who turned the match into a no contest with his unbeaten half ton, added that the below-par score of 134 by SRH made the home team take fewer risks while chasing.

Though CSK completed the task in 18.4 overs, they could have finished the job much earlier but they chose caution over aggression.

"Nice to be there in the end and get the win. Plan for us is simple. Every game, doesn't change too much. Play good cricket shows in the powerplay and put the bowlers under pressure. We try and look to repeat that regardless of what the score is," said Conway.

"We probably got the best of the conditions, probably (the ball) didn't hold as much as it did in the first innings. (The) pitch we experienced in Bangalore (against RCB) was a lot better. We knew we didn't have to be too reckless here."

The New Zealander had struck 83 off 45 balls against RCB on a belter of a pitch as CSK made a mammoth 226 for six on April 17 and defeated Faf du Plessis' side by eight runs.

जियो की तरफ से क्रिकेट फैंस को जोरदार झटका दिया गया है। दरअसल जियो ने अपने जियो सिनेमा प्लेटफॉर्म के लिए चार्ज करने का ऐलान किया है। बता दें कि जियो सिनेमा अभी तक पूरी तरह से फ्री था। लेकिन अब जियो सिनेमा ऐप चलाने के लिए चार्ज देना होगा। हालांकि कितना चार्ज देना होगा, फिलहाल इसका खुलासा नहीं किया गया है। लेकिन कंपनी ने कंफर्म किया है कि जियो सिनेमा रिचार्ज को इस साल आईपीएल सीजन से पहले ही रोलआउट कर दिया जाएगा।

Jio Cinema के लिए देना होगा चार्ज

Jio Cinema एक ऐप बेस्ड डिजिटल कंटेंट प्रोवाइडर प्लेटफॉर्म है, जिसे जियो का बैकअप मौजूद है। इस ऐप पर फ्री में यूजर्स टीवी चैनल्स का लुत्फ उठाते थे। इसके लिए मोबाइल में जियो रिचार्ज होना जरूरी था। इसके बाद यूजर्स ऐप को प्ले स्टोर से डाउनलोड करके फ्री में मूवी, शोज, न्यूज, म्यूजिक और क्रिकेट का लुत्फ उठाते थे। वही इस बार जियो सिनेमा पर फ्री में आईपीएल का प्रसारण किया जा रहा था। इससे जियो के ग्राहकों की संख्या में लगातार इजाफा हो रहा था। क्योंकि जियो सिनेमा ऐप का लुत्फ जियो यूजर्स ही उठा सकते थे। ऐसे में एयरटेल को नुकसान हो रहा था।

एयरटेल का आरोप जियो कर रहा नियमों का उल्लंघन

लेकिन इससे जियो की प्रतिद्वंदी कंपनी एयरटेल ने नियमों का उल्लंघन माना और जियो के खिलाफ टेलीकॉम रेगुलेटरी अथॉरिटी ऑफ इंडिया यानी Trai में शिकायत की। इसमें ब्रॉडबैंड और डिजिटल ऐप के लिए कानून बनाने की मांग की गई। एयरटेल का कहना है कि जियो डीटीएच को खत्म करना चाहती है। जहां डीटीएच पर मैच देखने के लिए 19 रुपये चार्ज किए जा रहे हैं। वही जियो सिनेमा पर क्रिकेट मैच को फ्री में देखा जा सकता है।

The Indian embassy in Sudan on Saturday advised Indian nationals in the country to take utmost precautions and stay indoors after Sudanese capital Khartoum witnessed large-scale violence.

In a tweet, the mission also urged the Indians to stay calm and wait for updates.

Explosions and clashes were reported in various areas in Khartoum in the backdrop of escalating tension between a paramilitary force and Susan's Army.

"Notice to all Indians. In view of reported firings and clashes, all Indians are advised to take utmost precautions, stay indoors and stop venturing outside with immediate effect. Please also stay calm and wait for updates," the Indian mission tweeted.

The military captured power in a coup in October 2021 and it has been running the country through a sovereign council since then.

There has been a dispute between the Army and the para-military over a proposed timeline for handing over power to a civilian government.

माफिया अतीक अहमद और उसके भाई अशरफ का अंत इस तरह होगा ऐसा किसने सोचा होगा। एक बार सांसद, पांच बार विधायक रहे माफिया अतीक पर 44 साल पहले पहला मुकदमा दर्ज हुआ था। तब से अब तक उसके ऊपर सौ से अधिक मामले दर्ज हुए, लेकिन पहली बार उमेश पाल अपहरण कांड में उसे दोषी ठहराया गया और उम्रकैद की सजा हुई। एक वक्त था जब अतीक के केस से जज भी थर्राते थे। अतीक की जमानत याचिका पर सुनवाई से 10 जजों ने खुद को अलग लिया। आइए जानते हैं क्या था वो पूरा वाकया...

साल 2012 में अतीक जेल में बंद था और यूपी में विधानसभा चुनाव की घोषणा हो चुकी थी। उसने इलाहाबाद हाईकोर्ट में अपनी जमानत के लिए याचिका दायर की। अतीक की याचिका पर सुनवाई से हाईकोर्ट के 10 जजों ने खुद को अलग कर लिया और 11वें जज ने सुनवाई की। इन्होंने अतीक की जमानत याचिका मंजूर कर ली और अतीक जेल से बाहर आकर चुनाव लड़ा। हालांकि अतीक राजू पाल की पत्नी पूजा पाल से चुनाव हार जाता है। 

44 साल पहले अतीक पर दर्ज हुआ था पहला मुकदमा

साल 1962 प्रयागराज का चकिया गांव। तांगा चलाने वाले फिरोज अहमद के घर एक लड़के का जन्म हुआ। नाम रखा अतीक अहमद। फिरोज घर में अकेले कमाने वाले थे। जैसे-तैसे पैसे का इंतजाम कर अतीक को पढ़ाते, लेकिन उसका पढ़ाई में एकदम मन नहीं लगता था। नतीजा ये हुआ कि वो 10वीं में फेल हो गया। इसके बाद उसने पढ़ाई पूरी तरह छोड़ दी। अब उसे जल्द से जल्द अमीर बनने का चस्का लग गया। लेकिन पैसा कमाने के लिए उसने मेहनत करना नहीं, बल्कि एक शॉर्टकट को चुना। लूट और अपहरण करके पैसा वसूलने का शॉर्टकट। वो रंगदारी वसूलने के लिए लोगों की हत्या तक को अंजाम देने लगा। साल 1979 में अतीक पर पहली बार एक हत्या का केस दर्ज हुआ।

जेल से बचने के लिए राजनीति का लिया सहारा

अतीक को जेल से बाहर आते ही समझ आ गया कि अब जेल से बचने के लिए राजनीति ही उसके काम आ सकती है। इसलिए उसने राजनीति में कदम रखने का निर्णय लिया। साल 1989 तक अतीक पर करीब 20 मामले दर्ज हो चुके थे। उसका प्रयागराज के पश्चिमी हिस्से पर दबदबा हो गया। 1989 में उसने पहली बार विधायक का चुनाव लड़ने का फैसला किया। किसी पार्टी ने टिकट नहीं दिया तो निर्दलीय खड़ा हो गया।

अतीक के सामने कांग्रेस के गोपालदास यादव प्रत्याशी थे। साथ ही अतीक का बढ़ता दबदबा चांद बाबा को भी अखरने लगा इसलिए वो भी अतीक को हारने के लिए चुनाव में खड़ा हो गया। चुनाव हुआ। नतीजे आए तो अतीक को 25,906 वोट मिले। वह 8,102 वोट से जीतकर पहली बार विधायक बन गया।

विधायक बनने के करीब तीन महीने बाद अतीक अपने गुर्गों के साथ रोशनबाग में चाय की टपरी पर बैठा था। अचानक चांद बाबा अपने साथियों के साथ वहां आया और दोनों गैंग के बीच गैंगवार शुरू हो गई। पूरा बाजार गोलियों, बम और बारूद से पट गया। इसी गैंगवार में चांद बाबा की मौत हो गई।

कुछ महीनों में एक-एक करके चांद बाबा का पूरा गैंग खत्म हो गया। चांद बाबा के ज्यादातर गुर्गे मार दिए गए, बाकी वहां से भाग गए। चांद बाबा की हत्या का आरोप अतीक अहमद पर लगा। लेकिन विधायक होने की वजह से उस पर कोई एक्शन नहीं लिया गया। चांद बाबा की मौत के पीछे गैंग की मुठभेड़ को कारण बताया गया। आज तक अतीक इस मामले में दोषी साबित नहीं हो पाया।

“Either way, this is a surprising find,” Wiezorek said according to Szotek, “as the blocks came from a monumental stone building and there are no known sites with Egyptian architecture within a radius of more than a hundred kilometers from Old Dongola.”

Wiezorek noted that there were previously no known instances of Egyptian centers that stretched into the portion of the Nile Valley where the Old Dongola blocks were found.

“I hope that our discovery will help fill this gap,” Wieczorek said, referencing his hope that the Polish team's discovery will rewrite the history of both Kushite and Egyptian culture.

NZ vs S: New Zealand beat Sri Lanka in 2nd T20, level series

Fast bowler Adam Milne took 5-26 as New Zealand bowled out Sri Lanka for 141 on Wednesday and went on to win the second Twenty20 cricket international by nine wickets.

Milne became only the third New Zealander to claim a five-wicket haul in a T20 international after Tim Southee (5-18 vs. Pakistan) and Lockie Ferguson (5-21 vs West Indies), helping the Black Caps bowl out Sri Lanka in exactly 19 overs.

Opener Tim Seifert then hit an unbeaten 79 from 43 balls as New Zealand reached 146-1 in 14.4 overs to win with 32 balls to spare, finishing off with consecutive sixes.

Milne's bag included the wickets of Kusal Perera (35) and Charith Asalanka (26,) who were half century-makers in the first T20 match between the teams on Sunday which Sri Lanka won in a Super Over. He also dimissed opener Pathum Nissanka (0) and wrapped up the innings by clean bowling Pramod Madushan and Dilshan Madushanka.

"Any time you get a five-for it's very nice and after the last game with the Super Over it's nice to come back and put in a good performance," Milne said.

Sri Lanka made 196-5 in the first match and looked on course to another high score when it reached 50-2 in the powerplay on Wednesday and 83-2 in the first 10 overs, led by Perera and Dhanjaya de Silva, who made 37 from 26 balls. The pair put on 62 for the third wicket.

But after Milne removed Perera, de Silva fell to the spinner Rachin Ravindra and Sri Lanka's innings lost some of its momentum. The pitch at the University Oval was slow but the boundaries were short and inviting and the visiting batters found it hard to resist the temptation of the big shot. New Zealand used the slower ball to good effect and a succession of batters fell to catches in the deep.

"I think the spinners did really well through the middle there to tie them up," Milne said.

"I think compared to the last game we were able to take a few quick wickets in the middle and that allowed us to attack a bit more."

South Africa-born opener Chad Bowes got the New Zealand innings off to a fast start with 31 from 15 balls, including seven fours.

When he was out with the total 40, Seifert took over the assault on the Sri Lanka bowlers and New Zealand rushed to 103-1 after 10 overs.

Seifert reached his sixth T20 half-century from 30 balls with two fours and four sixes. He hit the sixth six of his innings out of the ground from the bowling of De Silva to take New Zealand to 140-1, then the seventh on the next ball to end the match.

Captain Tom Latham was 20 not out, having played the support role in an unbeaten 106-run partnership with Seifert.

"It was a pretty clinical performance," Latham said.

"From eight overs on we clawed things back and the way we were able to keep taking wickets, we were able to stall the run-rate. I thought the bowling performance was outstanding.

"The way Chad and Tim played was the icing on the cake."

Sri Lanka wasn't able to recapture the batting form of the first match.

"We lost wickets at regular intervals and 141 was never enough on this wicket," captain Dasun Shanaka said.

"We were looking around the 180 mark when the wickets were there but we lost too many wickets and couldn't get there."

The match featured a notable milestone as New Zealand's Kim Cotton became the first female umpire to stand in a full men's international between ICC member nations.

Bengaluru: A man from Meghalaya, who allegedly assaulted by three software engineers for objecting to 'loud music' at Vignan Nagar in Bengaluru's HAL area, succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday. The 54-year-old Lloyd Nehemiah was from Meghalaya's Garo Hills, and was living in Bengaluru's Vignan Nagar with his family. The incident took place on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, between 3 and 4 am.

The victim's brother, Colonel David Nehemiah is serving in Kashmir, acording to official. The accused, identified as Ram Samanth Rai, Basudev Samanth Rai and Abhishek Singh, all in late thirties, work as software professionals.

Nehemiah had objected to his neighbours, who were in an inebriated condition, creating a ruckus and playing loud music as his bedridden mother was getting disturbed

According to reports, Lloyd had requested the techies, who stay in a rented house right next to his house but hailed from Odisha, to lower the music volume "at least three times" as his elderly mother was critical.

"My mother and I were unable to sleep due to the noise. Running out of patience, I came out and requested them to lower the volume. I even messaged the owner of the house in which they are tenants. The men came out, started hurling abuses, and dared me to come out of the house," Lloyd was quoted as saying by TOI.

The health of Lloyd's mother deteriorated following the incident and she had to be moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), the report noted.

Lloyd further alleged that the accused beat him and pushed him to the ground, and his sister, who came to his aid, was slapped. "A few neighbours came out to help us but they also received blows."

Taking to his Twitter handle, Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma wrote, "Lloyd Nehemiah was considered family by the A'chik people & NE tribals residing in Bengaluru. He went out of his way to help stranded people of Meghalaya return home during peak Covid times & was a brother who stood by them through all their difficult situations."

"Our A'chik community has lost a dear brother & I stand with them to offer my deepest condolences to his wife Drecie, his daughters and his loved ones. May he rest in peace," the tweet added.

Based on a complaint by the family, the HAL police booked the three men, said to be HAL employees, under Indian Penal Code sections 354 (assault or use of criminal force against any woman) and 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt). But following the death of Nehemiah, Police have approached the court for permission to invoke IPC Section 302 (murder) against the techies.

लंदन: ब्रिटेन में बाल अपराध और यौन शोषण के बढ़ते रिपोर्ट के बाद गृह मंत्री सुएला ब्रेवरमैन के रविवार को एक ने सनसनी फैला दी है. गृह मंत्री का आरोप है कि ब्रिटिश पाकिस्तानी पुरुष ग्रूमिंग गिरोह के सदस्य हैं, जो कमजोर अंग्रेजी लड़कियों का पीछा करने, बलात्कार करने, नशा देने और उन्हें नुकसान पहुंचाने में शामिल हैं. सीधे तौर पर सच बोलने की हिम्मत से दुनिया भर में सनसनी फ़ैल गई है, और पाकिस्तानी नागरिक सबके निशाने पर आ गए हैं. 

यौन शोषण पर बात करते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि बाल यौन शोषण को रिपोर्ट करना संबंधित नागरिकों के लिए कानूनी रूप से बाध्य होगा. ब्रेवरमैन ने एक निजी न्यूज़ एजेंसी से बात करते हुए कहा, ‘अपराधी पुरुषों का एक समूह है… जिसमें लगभग सभी ब्रिटिश पाकिस्तानी हैं. ये लोग ब्रिटिश मूल्यों के साथ पूरी तरह से अलग सांस्कृतिक दृष्टिकोण रखते हैं. उनकी गतिविधियां एक खुला रहस्य हैं, बावजूद इसके, उन्हें उनके समुदाय और समाज दोनों के भीतर चुनौती नहीं दी गई है. जानबूझकर आंखें मूंद लेना, अपना काम न करना और इस अपराध पर चुप्पी साध लेना- इनसे अपराध को बढ़ावा मिला है.’

ब्रेवरमैन ने रविवार को इस मुद्दे से निपटने के लिए व्यापक परामर्श की योजना की घोषणा की, हालांकि सरकार अभी अनिवार्य रिपोर्टिंग पर तत्काल ध्यान केंद्रित कर रही है. उन्होंने ब्रिटिश पाकिस्तानी अपराधियों को उजागर करने से परहेज नहीं किया, यह कहते हुए कि राजनीतिक शुद्धता ने अधिकारियों को कार्रवाई करने से रोका है. उन्होंने बताया कि ‘हम जो देख रहे हैं, अब वो एक प्रैक्टिस बन चुका है जिसमें कमजोर, सफेद, अंग्रेजी लड़कियों को ब्रिटिश पाकिस्तानियों के गिरोहों द्वारा पीछा किया जाता है और उनका बलात्कार किया जाता है.’

गृह सचिव के द्वारा प्रस्तावित कानून फिलहाल परामर्श के अधीन है. पिछले साल The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) ने इस तरह के कानून की सिफारिश की थी. इसमें बच्चों के यौन शोषण को महामारी के रूप में वर्णित किया गया था और कहा गया था कि यह हजारों पीड़ितों की जिंदगी नर्क बना देता है. IICSA ने इंग्लैंड और वेल्स में सात सालों तक जांच की जिससे यह नतीजा सामने आया कि विश्वास के पदों पर आसीन लोगों को बाल यौन शोषण की रिपोर्ट करने के लिए कानून द्वारा बाध्य किया जाना चाहिए.
